1.多所美国学新学期改为线上授课
近日，西方多个发达却面临严重的用工荒，各UC的学生收到学校通知，尤其是英国、澳利亚、美国等。更为重要的是，新学期的前两周将会改为线上进行。截止目前，随着西方重节日圣诞节来临之际，已经宣布的学校有加州学圣地亚哥分校UCSD，很多企业家和零售商发现面临无人可用的面。对此为了解决用工荒的情况，加州学欧文分校 UC Irvine，西方开始撒钱抢人，加州学洛杉矶分校UCLA。为了鼓励学生们不要过早返校，甚至还计划改变移民政策来挽留人才。其中德国的举措可谓是备受关注，UCSD还决定给晚入住宿舍的学生们退还住宿费。
而就在不久前，就拿一家职业培训中心来说，加州学圣塔芭芭拉分校UCSB的校刊Daily Nexus也表示，目前正在给上百名学员进行培训，全的UC学校都会至少转入网课两周的时间。
众多学几乎同时官宣网课，主要学内容就是如何成为专业的美发师、电工、木匠、焊工等等，这也意味着，而不是一味地培养高科技人才。之所以会出现这种情况，似乎在全美国的范围内，圣诞后开学都难免落得网课的命运了。
2.加州州立学官宣“永久取消SAT和ACT”
近日，美国加州州立学（加利福尼亚州立学）校长表示，学校理事会计划在明年1月通过提案，3月投票表决，永久取消SAT/ACT，采用包括以在校学业成绩、低收入家庭等作为录取标准。
CSU学校发言人称：取消了SAT/ACT考试成绩后，如果有申请者仍提交有标化成绩，也不会作为录取参考，仅作为录取学生选择数学或英语课程的增益。
而对于新的录取审核条件，加州州立学也决定以这些为录取依据：
1、15门学预科课程的高中平均成绩；
2、完成上述最低要求15门课以外的课程数量；
3、高中学校是否为伙伴学校，低收入学生百分比等；
4、课外活动，包括领导力、社区活动等。
Stolen Ohio bridge found

A 58-foot-long (18-meter) pedestrian bridge stolen from an Ohio city last month has been found and a man is facing charges,police said.

South Korea bans gatherings of 5 or more

South Korea has prohibited private social gatherings of five or more people nationwide and forced restaurants to close at 9 pm, rolling out the country's toughest coronavirus restrictions.

New Zealand has announced it will outlaw smoking for the next generation, so that those who are aged 14 and under today will never be legally able to buy tobacco.New legislation means the legal smoking age will increase every year, to create a smoke-free generation of New Zealanders, associate health minister Dr Ayesha Verrall said on Thursday.

4.57M to take postgrad entrance exam

A record 4.57 million students are expected to take the national postgraduate entrance exam scheduled from Saturday to Monday - 800,000 more than last year,the Ministry of Education said on Wednesday. Given the considerable increase in the number of participants and sporadic COVID-19 outbreaks in different regions, the ministry has guided local education authorities to take targeted measures to ensure the safety of exam participants, ministry spokesperson Xu Mei said.

Tax authorities crackdown on evaders
多地税务门喊话艺人主播补税
The taxation bureaus of Zhejiang, Guangdong and Jiangsu provinces, as well as those in Beijing and Shanghai, made similar announcements on Wednesdayasking celebrities and e-commerce livestreamers to strictly follow China's tax laws.
北京、上海、浙江、广东、江苏等地的税务门12月22日先后发布类似公告，要求明星艺人、网络主播严格遵守税法规定。
"Many celebrities in the entertainment industry and livestreamers have paid overdue tax to the taxation authorities since September when the national taxation authority asked people to look closely to determine whether or not they were evading taxes," the Beijing Taxation Bureau said on its website.
北京市税务在官网发布公告称："今年9月份，税务总办公印发有关通知后，许多明星艺人、网络主播纳税人主动联系税务门进行了自查补税。"
The bureaus are asking people who owe taxes to report before Dec 31.Otherwise, the authorities will take strict steps to enforce the tax laws.

Travel policies for the Spring Festival holiday, which begins on Jan 31, should be devised in accord with COVID-19 risk appraisals in different regions and groups, health officials said on Saturday. "Whether it is necessary for people to stay put during the Spring Festival holiday should be based on risk evaluations and should not be uniform across the country," Liang Wannian, a member of the National Health Commission's expert panel, said during a news briefing.
